Harold L. Brown

Harold L. Brown, 81 of Lake City, went to be with his Lord on Friday October 24, 2008. Harold was born February 12, 1927 in Erie, a son of the late Herbert and Mildred Clark Brown.

He graduated from the Fairview High School in 1945. Following his marriage to Vera Dunn in 1946, he was inducted into the U.S. Army where he served in the occupational forces in Korea. Upon his discharge from the military he returned to the Girard area and worked as an auto mechanic for several business's. He went to work for the New York Central Railroad, which became Penn-Central and eventually Conrail, where he retired from in 1988 as a machinist. He was an active member of the Girard Alliance Church, where he was a former sunday school teacher, elder, deacon, usher, trustee, treasurer and secretary of the board. He enjoyed playing the guitar at his leisure and playing in church.

He was preceded in death by a son David L. Brown in 2004, a brother Homer Brown and a grandaughter Katherine Rose Brown. He is survived by his wife Vera M. Dunn Brown, whom he married February 2, 1946 in Girard; two daughters Brenda S. Bock and her husband Jerry of Lake City, Janet M. Cole and her husband Jerry of Boise, Idaho, a daughter in law Arlene Brown of Lake City; three sons Edward A. Brown of Tyler, Texas, Charles R. Brown of Jackson, S.C., Robert E. Brown and his wife Shelley of Girard; a sister Viola Perry of Erie; twelve grandchildren; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard. Services will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Girard Alliance Church 229 Rice Ave., Girard. Rev. Clyde Davis, Pastor of the church officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in the Girard Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Girard Alliance Church, 229 Rice Ave.,Girard,PA 16417.
