Beverly Swanson Bushyeager
Beverly Swanson Bushyeager, 81 formerly of Girard, died Friday April 4, 2008 at Fairview Manor.
She was born on August 8, 1926 in Chicago, IL, a daughter of the late Rev. Newton H. and Gladys M. Ward Swanson. She graduated from Rice Avenue Union High School in 1944. Following high school, she went to Westminster College, transferred to Edinboro State Teacher's College (now Edinboro University), where she received her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1963. She returned to West County and began her teaching career at the Lake City Elementary School, where she taught second grade; she also taught fifth grade at Battle's Memorial Elementary School. Beverly continued her career as a math teacher at both Elk Valley Elementary School and the Rice Avenue Middle School, retiring from there in 1985 following 24 1/2 years of teaching. She also received her Master's Degree from Edinboro University.
She was a member of the Girard Methodist Church where she sang in the choir.
She enjoyed bowling with local teams, refinishing furniture, PSERS, as well as knitting and needlepoint.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Bushyeager on December 28, 2004, whom she was married to on October 16, 1948, at the Girard United Methodist Church by her father, Rev. Newton Swanson; also by a sister Marilyn Swanson in 2001.
Survivors include two daughters Nancy Cashdollar of Girard, PA and Kathy Lyons and her husband Kenneth of Girard, PA; one son David Bushyeager of Erie, PA; three grandchildren Jennifer Rohrer and her husband Ryan of Duncannon, PA, Christopher Cashdollar and his wife Deb of Girard, PA, and Brent Lyons of Girard, PA; two great grandchildren, Bryant and Callie Rohrer of Duncannon.
Friends may call on Monday from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard. Services will be held there on Tuesday at 10AM. Rev. Darrell Greenawalt officiating.
Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.
