Anna L. Vanicek Andrews

Anna L. Vanicek Andrews, 97 of Girard, died Friday April 4, 2008 at Pleasant Ridge Manor. She was born July 6, 1910 in North Braddock, PA, a daughter of the late Jacob and Sophia Koterbo Vanicek.

Anna attended the Globe School on South Creek Road in Girard Twp. When she was 16 years old she began working at Girard Mfg. where she worked for 36 years. She also worked part time at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Rectory as a housekeeper. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Girard where she was active in the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and playing all types of card games. Anna was a dedicated to her family and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death be her husband Reid W. Andrews in 1972, and whom she married October 20, 1934 in Girard; also by three sisters Mary Fetzuga, Cecilia "Ceil" Morgan and Rose Schaal. She is survived by a son David A. Andrews and his wife Betty of Girard; two sisters Agnes Stephen of Erie and Sophia Ford of Las Vegas, NV; a brother, Vince Vanicek and his wife Lois of Lake City; Three grandchildren, Diane Zimmer and her fiance', Jerome Zukowski, Lisa Kraus and her husband John and Mark Andrews and his wife Karen; two great grandchildren, Corey and Conner Zimmer and several nieces and nephews.

Freinds may call on Tuesday from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard. A Prayer Service will be held there on Wednesday at 9:30AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 10AM. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. John's Catholic Church, 101 Olin Ave.,Girard or to A.F. Dobler Hose and Ladder Co., 12 Mechanic St., Girard, PA. 16417
