Richard F. Fidler

Richard F. Fidler, 83 of Fairview, died Monday August 20, 2007 at Pleasant Ridge Manor. He was born August 11, 1924 in North Girard (now Lake City), a son of the late Roy B. and Gertrude Hedbon Fidler.

Richard was attending Girard's Rice Avenue Union High School when the country was involved in WWII. He quit school, just prior to his graduation to join the US Army. Following basic training he was deployed to the European theatre with the 5th motor trnsportation squadron. Upon his discharge from the military he returned to the Girard area and worked for various companies. He later became employed by Seelar and Co. in Erie where he worked until his retirement in 1986.

He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fairview and the Millcreek American Legion Post # 773. He truly enjoyed taking pride and care of his lawn and spent many, many days fishing for perch with his family on Lake Erie. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Luella Mushrush and Betty Davis; also by a brother Raymond Fidler.

He is survived by his wife Martha M. Repel Fidler, whom he married June 12, 1948 at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Albion; also by two daughters, Carlye A. Stetson of North East and Pamela J. Baldwin and her husband Patrick of East Springfield; five grandchildren, Tracy Scotch and her husband David of North East, Melanie Stetson of Erie, Ryan Stetson and his wife Jena of Austin,TX., Elijah Baldwin of Pittsburgh, Corinne Baldwin of Girard; six great grandchildren, Dawson, Jarett, Brady, Breanna, Jaden Skye and Cassandra also several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 7100 West Ridge Rd., Fairview and are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial there on Thursday at 10AM. Rev. Scott Detisch officiating.

Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Church.
