Betty Lou Kelly Davis
Betty Lou Kelly Davis, 80, formerly of Oakdale, PA, died Sunday, June 17, 2007 at home under the loving care of her son, Rev. Clyde L. Davis, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer.
She was born December 31, 1926, in McKeesport, PA, the daughter of the late Clifton R. and Elizabeth Murtha Kelly.
Betty Lou graduated from McKeesport High School in 1944. She worked briefly for the McKeesport Newspaper before enrolling in and attending The Missionary Training Institute in Nyack, NY.
She was preceded in death by the Rev. Clyde L. Davis, Sr., her husband of 54 years, in 2006. From September, 1951 through January, 2006 they lovingly and faithfully served the following churches in Western Pennsylvania District of The Christian and Missionary Alliance : Rosedale, Beaverdale, Barnesboro, Erie, New Brighton, Union City and Aliquippa.
Betty Lou is survived by three children, Rev. Clyde L. Davis, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer of Girard, Rev. Dr. Kenneth R. Davis and his wife, Lori, of Markham, Ontario, Canada, Mrs. Beverly Matos and her husband, Rev. William Matos of Germantown, MD; 9 grandchildren, Ryan, Colleen, Kelly, Brian, Matthew and Selina Davis, Nathan, Kevin and Emma Matos; also by a sister Norma Jean (Kelly) Abbott and several nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, pastor's wife and friend. She will also be remembered for her artistry as a gifted pianist and vocalist. She will also be remembered for her secretarial skills and ability to teach in a variety of settings.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Girard Alliance Church, 229 Rice Ave., Girard. All are invited to attend a funeral service there on Wednesday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Richard Jenks, Senior Pastor of the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church of Butler officiating.
Burial will be in the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Elizabeth Township, PA.
