Dusckas Obituaries
 Leonard W. Averill
Leonard W. Averill, age 71, passed away at his residence in Millcreek Twp. on Saturday, February 4, 2012. He was born in Erie on January 20, 1941, son of the late Stewart W. Averill and Violet Averill Adams.
Leonard was a 1959 graduate of Academy High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis on the U.S.S. Lind DD-703, and then served in the U.S. Naval Reserve for 27 years. Leonard was employed with Boyer RV Center for 47 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of American Legion Carl Neff Post #571 and the CYS Club. Leonard was an avid NASCAR Fan and attended races every year at Watkins Glen. He was also a New England Patriots fan, enjoyed camping, and worked part-time as a bartender at Chippers Tavern.
Leonard was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Lois A. Schlosser Averill and a brother, Vincent Averill. He is survived by two sons, Stewart L. Averill (Lynn) and Michael D. Averill (Mindy) all of Erie; six sisters, Patricia Morehouse (Larry), Sally Dauber (Thomas), Carol Adams, and Linda Adams all of Erie; Bonne Holden (Albert) of Minneola, Fla. and Connie Golembeski (John) of Winter Garden, Fla.; three brothers, Kenneth Boyer (Lucille), Dennis Boyer, and Russell Adams all of Erie; one aunt, Charlotte Winslow of Girard; six grandchildren, Kyle, Kara, Michael, Brittany, Joshua and Breahna; a great granddaughter, Isabella; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Wednesday at 11 a.m. conducted by Rev. David Edmunds, Pastor, Belle Valley Presbyterian Church. A full military service will follow at Lakeside Cemetery conducted by American Legion Carl Neff Post #571. Carl Neff Post will conduct a service at the funeral home Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. Contributions may be designated to the family through the funeral home.
