James M. Beresford

James M. Beresford, age 87 of Erie and formerly Harborcreek Twp., passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, Erie following a lengthy illness. He was born in Erie, PA on January 28, 1924, the son of the late James and Florence Baumgartner Beresford. He was a life-long Erie area resident.

James was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the 101st Airborne Division during World War II. He was a life member of the American Legion, Carl Neff Post #571 and the North East VFW Post #4789. He was the owner of B and M Electronics on Iroquois Ave. from 1949 until his retirement in 1994.

Preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Fulmer and his son-in-law, Reese L. Fesmire.

Survivors include his wife, Mariam Myers Beresford; his daughter, Arlene Fesmire of Erie; three grandchildren: Kevin (fiancé Amber), John and James (Donna) Fesmire all of Erie; one great-grandson, Elijah Fesmire and two step great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., EAST, 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend the Funeral Service there on Thursday at 11:30 a.m.. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery with full military honors. The American Legion will conduct a service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
