Everett E. Bennett, Sr., age 70, of Erie passed away Monday, August 22, 2011 following an extended illness. He was born in Spartansburg, Pa. on January 24, 1941, son of the late Chester and Margaret Stufflebeam Bennett.

Everett worked at Parade Lumber and Erie Metal Stamping for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors, working on cars and was a stock car driver at Eriez Speedway for many years. "Uncle E" was an avid NASCAR and Jeff Gordon fan.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Shuman and Reeta Sanford and two brothers, Melvin and Donald Bennett. Survivors include his lifelong companion, Thelma Mullen Bennett; his sons, Everett Bennett, Jr. (Jeanette), Dale Bennett, Duane Bennett, Fred Bennett and Robert Miller (Kim) all of Erie and Alan Bennett (April) of Brocton, N.Y.; his daughters, Edna Bush, Kathy Bennett, Brenda Bennett and Tina Palicia all of Erie and Peggy Bennett of Corry; one sister, Shirley Young (Russell) of Millcreek Twp.; one brother, Richard Bennett, Sr. of Erie; a "special" granddaughter, Kimberly Alward; and many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., West, 536 West 10th Street on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Friday at 1 p.m. conducted by Rev. Asa Jones of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ. Interment, Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be designated for the Family in care of the funeral home.
