Kevin W. "Mitch" Mitchell, age 57, of Erie, died Friday, August 27, 2010 at Hamot Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born August 28, 1952 in Erie, a son of Geraldine M. Sopp Mitchell of Erie and the late Gerald W. Mitchell. He had resided in the Erie area his entire life.

Mitch was a 1970 graduate of Strong Vincent High School. He had been employed as a boilermaker by Local Union #744 for 40 years. Mitch had served in the National Guard. He was a member of the Sportsmen's Athletic Club and the Siebenbuerger Club. He was an avid golfer and Miami Dolphins fan. Mitch was also a Corvette enthusiast.

In addition to his mother, Mitch is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Betsy H. Stone Mitchell; three children, Kevin G. Mitchell and Katie A. Mitchell both of Erie and Laura E. Mitchell of Ridgeway; one sister, Susan M. Frick and her husband Ret. Rear Adm. Robert E. Frick; two grandchildren, Alexis and Madison Mitchell; a dear cousin, Bill Sopp (wife Patty) of Erie; two aunts; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., West, 536 West 10th Street, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at St. Jude the Apostle R.C. Church at 10 a.m. Interment, Trinity Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northwestern PA Humane Society, P.O. Box 3930, Erie, PA 16508.
