Jeanette Scherer Hoover, age 91, of Erie, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Forestview Healthcare Center. She was born in Erie on November 19, 1918, daughter of the late Peter and Eva Burkell Scherer. She was a lifelong Erie resident.

Jeanette was an active member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, where she was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church Women. She had previously done work in bookkeeping with General Electric and bowled with the G.E. League. She had done volunteer work with Brevillier Village and was previously an Assistant Leader with Penn Lakes Girl Scout Council.

The widow of John R. Hoover Jr., she is survived by two daughters, Carol Jean Crawford (Charles) of N. Canton, Ohio and Linda Thunberg of Canal Winchester, Ohio; one brother Robert Scherer (Ann) of Erie; six grandchildren, Alaina Feltenberger, John Feltenberger (Ashley), Jeanne Crump (Kit), Richard Thunberg, Cynthia Mignone (Steven) and Natalie Thunberg; four great-grandchildren, Heather, Gabriel, Austin and Monica; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by six sisters, Margaret Johnson, Martha Orchard, Lorena Goodwill, Helen Hall, Evelyn Hayes and Mildred Ebner.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a Prayer Service there on Saturday at 12:15 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Interment, Calvary Cemetery.
