Elsie Travis Coon

Elsie Travis Coon, age 79, of Erie, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born October 14, 1930 in Coalton, W.Va., daughter of the late Tony and Katy Angelo Travis. She had resided in Erie for most of her life.

Elsie had previously been a bookkeeper at her brother Sam's business, Travis Tire. She had been an active former member at First Assembly of God Church. In recent years, she was an active member of the Calvary Christian Church in Harborcreek.

She was an avid golfer. She especially enjoyed spending time with and sharing her love with her family. Elsie will be long remembered as a hard working, loving, caring, and compassionate women.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Silas W. Coon; a sister, Franny Lindsey; a brother-in-law, Richard Formanini; two nephews, Rick Formanini and Sammy Lee Travis. Survivors include her beloved niece and caregiver with whom she resided, Brenda Taylor of Erie and Brenda's two sons, Matt and Josh Taylor; her siblings, Frank Travis (Olga) of Erie, Louise Anderson of Erie, Jeannette Formanini of Georgia and Sam Travis (Dorothy) of Erie; a brother-in-law, Bill Lindsey of Erie; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend the Funeral Service there on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment, Lakeside Cemetery.
