William A. "Bill" Wenzel, Sr., age 64, of Erie, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born August 14, 1945 in Little Rock, Arkansas, son of the late Joseph and Anna Mae Coleman Wenzel. He had resided in Erie for 20 years, having moved here from Pittsburgh.

Bill was a graduate of South Side High School in Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh. He had been employed by Plastek in Erie prior to his retirement in 2008, and previously employed by Westinghouse in Pittsburgh. Bill was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and hunting. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph. Survivors include his beloved wife, Sharon M. Mitulski Wenzel; three children, William A. Wenzel, Jr. (wife Susan) of Illinois, Michael S. Wenzel of Indiana and Candice A. Wenzel of Erie; five step-children, Nathan Gordon (wife Shawna) of Erie, Nicole Whitaker (husband Steve) of Corry, Mark Gordon (wife Jennifer) of Summit Twp., Michelle Banaag of Erie and Kyle Brine (wife Tammy) of Lake City; and several grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. and are invited to attend the Funeral Service there on Saturday at 10 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Rick Moyer, Pastor, Community United Church. Interment, Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
