Ronald Joseph Ochs, Sr.

Ronald Joseph Ochs, Sr., of 83, of Erie, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was born in Lucinda, Pa. on November 30, 1926, son of the late Alouisious and Rose Ochs.

Ron was employed at General Electric for 38 years until his retirement in 1986. He enjoyed working on cars and in his yard and flower garden. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. Ron was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees stationed in Guam during WWII. He was a recipient of the American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal.

Ron is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. Ochs. They would have been married 58 years on July 28. He is also survived by five sons, James, Delbert and Edward Alexander and Ronald, Jr. and David Ochs; two daughters, Hazel Imig and Diana VanWinkle; three brothers, Malcolm, Norbert and James Ochs; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald, Jr.; one sister, Calista Banner; and two brothers, Dennis and Bernard Ochs.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Monday at 1 p.m. A full military service will follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery conducted by American Legion Carl Neff Post #571.
