Rachel "Rae" Clausen Krahnke, age 87 of Erie passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Presque Isle Rehabilation & Nursing Center. She was born in Erie on December 31, 1922 the daughter of the late Hans and Rena Brine Clausen.

A lifelong Erie resident, Rachel was a long time member of the Belle Valley Presbyterian Church where she had served as a Deacon. She was a volunteer with the City Mission and a member of the Belle Valley Hose Co. Ladies Auxiliary.

The widow of Harry Melvin Krahnke, she is survived by one daughter, Norine Blount (Reinhard); 2 sons, Harry J. Krahnke (Judy) and Thomas M. Krahnke (Cynthia) all of Erie; 7 grandchildren, Dale, Tom Jr., Amber, Bryan, Beth, John Paul and Debbi; 2 great-grandchildren, Mychael and Blace; many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Rachel was preceded in death by 3 brothers, John, Andrew and Paul Clausen and 2 sisters, Elizabeth Smith and Rebecca Hinderliter.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service there at 10 a.m., conducted by Rev. David Edmunds, Pastor, Belle Valley Presbyterian Church. Interment, Lakeside Cemetery.
