Bruce Howard Flick

Bruce Howard Flick, age 82, of Millcreek, passed away Monday, March 1, 2010 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was born June 23, 1927 in Rimersburg, Pa., son of the late Carl Leroy and Ena Ford Flick.

Bruce had lived in Erie since 1947. He was a member of St. Andrew's R.C. Church. He was employed for 33 years at Inland Container until his retirement in 1988; prior to that he was employed at General Electric. Bruce had served in the U.S. Navy with the Seebees during WWII. He was an avid golfer. He was a member of the NWPA Blinded Golfers Assn. and a life member of the National Blind Veterans Assn., and American Legion Millcreek Post #773 and the Erie West Senior Center. Bruce especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, June Perry Flick; children Cheryl Johnson and Edward Flick (Ella) all of Erie and Patrick Flick (companion Pamela Tippmann) of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Kylene Koper (Jason), Michael Johnson and Shane, Christopher, Kira, Amanda and Howard Flick; one sister, Virginia Phelps (Donald) of Conneaut, Ohio; one brother, Clair Flick (Nancy) of Putnam, Conn.; three great-grandchildren, Hannah and Tristan Johnson and Brooke Koper; Stepchildren, Eleanor Perry (William Batson) of Erie, Rev. David Perry (Kim) of Lillington, NC; step-grandchildren, Jared and Joshua Perrington, Matthew and Elizabeth Perry, Marissa Sherrell (Jesse), Derek Batson (Mary) and their children, Abbey, Adam and Eva, and Heather Brosnan (James) and their children Aalliyah and Olivea; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his first wife Helen Bostaph Flick; son-in-law, Dennis Johnson; brothers, Carl Jr., William and Jack Flick; and a sister, Frances Grein.

Friends may call at Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., West, 536 West 10th Street on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Prayer Service there on Friday at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Andrews Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Interment, Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Recreational Fund, 135 East 38th St., Erie, PA 16504.
