Evelyn R. Bedlow, age 88, a resident of Niagara Village, was lovingly surrounded by her family when she passed away Thursday, February 11, 2010 from an extended illness at Select Specialty Hospital. She was born July 21, 1921 in Erie, daughter of the late Paul and Martha Grace Briggs Barnes.

Evelyn was blessed with a loving family and friends. She and her husband Bob were married for 63 years. Evelyn was a graduate of Academy High School and worked at Kroger's Market, Talon, and General Electric. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and formerly in the Ladies Guild. She was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Siebenbuerger Club. Through her life she enjoyed traveling with her husband, making ceramics, playing bingo and cards with her friends, and spending time with her family.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Bedlow; brothers, Robert C. Barnes and Paul G. Barnes; and a sister, Lenora Barnes. Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Johnson (Jim) of McKean; her son, Robert Bedlow of Erie; grandson, James R. Johnson (fiancé Kari Stiles) of Girard; granddaughter, Jennifer R. Johnson of Erie; and three great-grandchildren, Brady, Madelynn and Mayley.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Prayer Service there on Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church at 11 a.m. Interment, Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
