Albert P. "Bert" Bachmaier, age 71, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2010 at his residence in Waterford. He was born in Erie on September 9, 1938, son of the late Albert J. and Victoria Bachmaier.

Bert was a member of St. Ann's R.C. Church, American Legion Post #771, International Assn. of Firefighters and a life member of the Siebenbuerger Club. Bert was a 28 year firefighter with the City of Erie Fire Department and retired as a Fire Inspector in 1997. He enjoyed camping, cooking, spending time with his family and grandchildren and going out to eat. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Bert was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Bachmaier; his brother, Daniel Bachmaier; and a sister, Judy Wieunski. He is survived by two children, Barbara Clark (Dean) of Cambridge Springs and Steven Bachmaier (Melanie) of Waterford; two sisters, Betsy Fava (Michael) of Byron Center, Mich. and Victoria Held of Erie; five grandchildren, Jarret, Morgan, Dean, Jr., James and Lois; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Prayer Service there on Monday at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Ann's R.C. Church. Interment, Lakeside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Erie Fighters Historical Museum, 428 Chestnut St., Erie, PA 16507.
