Mary Elizabeth Apps

Mary Elizabeth Apps, age 75, of 17 East Congress Street in Corry, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2010 at the home of her niece, Patricia Bowen. Mary was born November 14, 1934 in Corry, daughter of the late Alfred and Marjorie Sheldon Apps.

Mary worked at the Barber Center in Erie for many years before retiring to the Barber Senior Center. She had a loving heart for anyone she came in contact with. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the children. She loved animals, had a wonderful sense of humor, collected porcelain dolls and enjoyed books and newspapers.

Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, David and Rexford Apps; a sister-in-law, Janet Apps; and a nephew, David James Apps. Survivors include her uncle, Ralph "Pete" Sheldon (Chizuko) of Mass.; her sister-in-law, Virginia Apps of Corry, three nieces, Nancie Apps (Jake Maijala) of N.Y., Cynthia Brown (Curtis) of R.I. and Patricia Bowen (Keith) of Corry; three nephews, David Apps (Susan) of Corry, Jon-Michael Apps of Minn. and Rexford Apps, Jr. of Corry; long time friend and caretaker Sue Campbell of Erie; and her cousin, Cheryl Sheldon of Erie; great-nieces and nephews; Desiree Simmonsen (Joel) of Corry, Stacie Leigh Apps of Corry, David Brown of R.I., Stephen Brown (Heidi) of Mass., Kerrie Wudyka of Conn., Huyen Phan of Va., Erin Silvia (Ryan Burrows) of Colo., Eric Silvia (Carrie) of Corry, Samantha Silvia (Doug Griesbaum) of North East, Cristina Bean of Warren, Reina Champlin of Corry, Aiden and Daniel Apps, both of Minn.; and great-great-nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved, Ana and Lily Nguyen, Matthew Brown, Lillian Brown, Isabella Burrows, Ryleigh Apps, Azairah Silvia, and Madison Burrows.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Saturday at Corry Alliance Church, 721 Hatch St., Corry, PA from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service there at 11 a.m. Interment, Pine Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Mary's name to the Corry Fire Dept., 14 E. South St., Corry, PA 16407 or the Corry Public Library, 117 W. Washington St., Corry, PA 16407.
