John P. Belczyk

John P. Belczyk, age 92, of Erie, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Pleasant Ridge Manor East. He was born in Erie on April 21, 1917, son of the late Frank and Anna Belczyk.

John was a member of Holy Rosary R.C. Church; 19th Street Polish Falcons Club and the Purple Heart Society. John was a lithographer for Marx Toys for over 30 years and worked part-time for Pulakos Candies until his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WWII and was a recipient of two Purple Heart Medals and the Bronze Star.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Virginia Lewandowski Belczyk; three children, Carol Kellogg (David) of Wattsburg, Jack Belczyk (Heidi) of Millcreek and Judy Tucci of Belle Valley; one granddaughter, Jaclyn Belczyk; one sister, Gertrude Zawistowski of Erie; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by four brothers, Leonard, Frank, Raymond and Robert Belczyk.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a Prayer Service there on Monday at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary R.C. Church. Interment, Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery with full military honors conducted by American Legion Carl Neff Post #571.
