Mary E. Huber Jones Battenfield

Mary E. Huber Jones Battenfield, age 84, of Erie, died Friday, May 22, 2009 at Hamot Medical Center. She was born February 2, 1925 in Erie, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Swift Huber. She had resided in the Erie area for most of her life.

Mary was employed by the Housing Authority of the City of Erie for 18 years, retiring as an executive secretary. She had attended St. John's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening, playing cards, attending the Erie Philharmonic Pop Series and Erie Playhouse performances. Mary was a member of the Road Runners Club of the Salvation Army and the Asbury Senior's Club.

Preceded in death by her first husband, James R. Jones, Sr.; her second husband, William Battenfield, one daughter, Merrie Duda; and two sisters, Eleanor Brace and Alice Jenco. Survivors include one son, James R. Jones (wife Beverly) of Erie; three daughters, Joyce Bridges (husband Jim) of Erie, Robin Smith of Erie and Lisa Wolford and husband Jeffrey of Waterford; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Private interment, Erie Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Charity of One's Choice.
