Maxine M. Akerly
Maxine M. Akerly, age 67, of Greenfield Twp., died Thursday, April 16, 2009 at her residence following an extended illness with cancer. She was born in Erie on July 14, 1941, daughter of the late Marvin and Marie Carpenter.
She attended the North East Christian Missionary Alliance Church. Maxine was a graduate of Harbor Creek High School, Class of 1959. She had been employed with Lake Erie Speedway for nine years.
Survived by her husband of 28 years, Bob Akerly; four sons, Kevin Azevedo (Debra) of Wesleyville, Kenneth Azevedo (Colleen) of Palmdale, CA, Armando Azevedo (Patricia) of Millcreek Twp. and Joseph Azevedo of Greenfield Twp.; one step-daughter, Cynthia Akerly of Little Hope; one stepson, Robert M. Akerly of Erie; one sister, Jean Betlinger (Jim) of Johnstown, PA; two brothers, Charles Carpenter (Gail) of Titusville, FL and Norbert Carpenter (Dana) of Phoenix, AZ; 28 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Monday at 10 a.m. conducted by Rev. Marvin Hutchinson of North East Christian Missionary Alliance Church. Interment, Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Regional Cancer Center, 2500 West 12th St., Erie, PA 16505.
