Vincent J. Benim

Vincent J. Benim, age 87, of Harborcreek Twp., died Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Twinbrook Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born in Sherman, NY on November 17, 1920, son of the late Benjamin and Ethel Yeager Benim. He resided in Erie most of his life.

Vincent was employed at General Electric Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1982, and was a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club; prior to that he worked at Talon Mfg. He was a member of American Legion Carl Neff Post #571 and enjoyed gardening and hunting. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force Engineers, serving in the Pacific during WWII.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Frances I. Tologo Benim; one son, Vincent J. Benim II and his wife Denise of Erie; one brother, Robert Benim of Erie; three grandchildren, Tara Shannon, Meridith Brizuela and Sean Benim; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathleen and Doris Benim, and four brothers, Claire, Alfred, Kenneth and Donald Benim.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a prayer service there on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. James R.C. Church at 10 a.m. Interment Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Assn.–Greater PA Chapter, 1128 State St., Suite 301, Erie, PA 16501.
