John "B.J." Asel

John "B.J." Asel, age 78, of Cambridge Springs, PA, died Saturday, June 28, 2008 in Cambridge Springs, PA. He was born in Strattonville, PA on May 17, 1930, son of the late John and Twila Asel. He had resided in Erie since 1942.

He was an engineer with Meadow Brook Dairy for 15 years and also worked as a part-time police officer in Wesleyville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of American Legion Carl Neff Post #571 and the DAV and enjoyed wood crafts, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Phoebe; two sons, James Weigle (Valarie) of Jacksonville, FL and Mark Weigle (Leslie) of Erie; two daughters, Diane McCullough (David) of Erie and Bonnie Van Guesen (Richard) of Waterford; two adopted sons, David and Billy Asel, both of Erie; two sisters, Pauline and Georgia; eight grandchildren, Jessica and Samantha Clabbatz, Heather VanGeisen, Joseph, Matthew and Kelli McCullough, Emily and Matthew Miller; and three great-grandchildren, Zoee, Kiwii and Larkin. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a grandson, Jacob VanGeisen.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend the Funeral Service there on Tuesday at 11 a.m. conducted by Rev. James Callender of Cambridge Springs First Church of God. Interment will be at Miller Station Cemetery with full military honors.
