Dora Brocious Beck
Dora Brocious Beck, age 83, of Erie, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 18, 2008 at St. Mary's Home of Erie, formerly of East 7th St. She was born in Reynoldsville, PA on November 20, 1924, daughter of the late William "Ben" and Anna Lindy Brocious. She had lived in Erie for most of her life.
Dora was a member of 10th Street United Methodist Church, and cooked for the church's food tent at the annual Wattsburg Fair. She worked at Lord Mfg. for a number of years. She loved to sew for her children and grandchildren, every stitch sewn with love. She was an avid camper for many years, spending countless hours at Brooks Rocks Campground with friends and family.
The widow of Turney E. Beck, Dora is survived by two daughters, Marjorie Wasiela and her husband Thomas of Union City and Margaret Stiegler and her companion James Pennsy of Girard; two sons, Darl Beck and his wife Debbie of Harborcreek and Bradley Beck and his wife Elizabeth of Wattsburg; three sisters, Catherine Matkovich, Thelma Lada and Linda Goodman and her husband Richard, all of Erie; one brother, Maurice "Bud" Brocious and his wife Betty of McKean; 11 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Lee.
Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Sunday from 1 to 3 and 6 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service there at 8:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. Daniel Laird of Community Christian Church. Interment will be held at Smicksburg Methodist Cemetery, Smicksburg, PA on Monday at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association-Greater PA Chapter, 1128 State St., Suite 301, Erie, PA 16501 or Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach St., Suite 244, Erie, PA 16501.
