Anna Louise Chambers Finegan

Anna Louise Chambers Finegan, age 93, a Harborcreek resident for 85 years, died Saturday, March 22, 2008 at St. Mary's at Asbury Ridge. She was born on December 21, 1914, in Harborcreek, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Clara Kern Chambers.

Anna graduated from Mercyhurst Seminary, Mercyhurst College and received her Masters in Library Science from Western Reserve University. She had been a teacher at Wesleyville and Lawrence Park High Schools, a librarian at Kanty Prep and Gannon College, homemaker and mother. She was a member of St. James R.C. Church, an avid reader, loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and volunteering with local charities.

The widow of Owen T. Finegan, who had previously served as Guidance Director and Vice President at Gannon University. Survivors include her children, Owen T. (Judy), Timothy J. (Laurel), Margaret "Maggie" Nagorsky (Ken), Christopher B. (Deborah), James M. (Lynn) and Maria Hvezda (Robert); grandchildren, Kathleen, Mariah, Timothy, Cassius "Casey" and Hannah Finegan, Ellen and Ben Fischer, Elizabeth and Samuel Hvezda, Jared and Derrick Lawrie; nieces and nephews, Barbara Chambers (Ph.D.), Jean Chambers Lloyd (John), Susan Chambers McAllister (Jack), Robert C. Chambers, Mary Hudler and Peggy Pianka. She was preceded in death by brothers, Benjamin, Donald and Robert Chambers and a nephew, William Chambers.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the prayer service there at 1:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. James R.C. Church at 1:30 p.m. Interment, Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Gannon University Library Fund, 109 University Sq., Erie, PA 16541.
