John "Bud" Bennett

John "Bud" Bennett, age 79, of Bradenton, FL., formerly of Erie, died Monday, March 17, 2008 in Bradenton, FL. Bud was born in Erie on September 13, 1928 son of the late Glenn and Marcia Bennett.

Bud was an active member of Harbor Creek Baptist Church and was the lead singer in the gospel quartet Singing Believers for 25 years. He was a 1946 graduate of Harbor Creek High School and retired after 24 years at General Electric Co. as a semi-truck driver. Bud enjoyed hunting, woodworking, sports, traveling and singing for the Lord.

Bud is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty (Learn) Bennett, 3 children, James Bennett (Betty) of Albuquerque, NM, David Bennett (Patricia) of Erie and Janet Saville (Michael) of Mildenhall, England, 5 grandchildren, James, Jennifer, Tina, Jason and Michele, 7 great-grandchildren, Nevin, Kyler, Annalise, Marissa, Zachary, Kyleigh and Jenna.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Friday from 7 to 9 pm, Saturday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. Further visitation will be held on Monday at Harbor Creek Baptist Church, 4719 Buffalo Rd., from 10:30am until the time of the funeral service at 11 am. conducted by Dr. Donald Roach. Interment Lakeside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Susan B. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX. 75265.
