Ardelia Delphine Allen

Ardelia Delphine Allen, age 92, formerly of Jamestown Rd. in Wattsburg died Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at Wesbury Nursing Home. She was born in Harborcreek Twp. on April 30, 1915, daughter of the late Henry and Charlotte Hurst Allen.

Ardelia was a member and Trustee of Wattsburg Methodist Church and a member of the Women's Circle where she had served as President. After receiving her nursing degree she traveled as a nurse companion with her aunt all over the world. She also did window decorations and was the company nurse for the Boston Store for many years. She was school cafeteria manager for the Wattsburg School District until her retirement in 1980; and prior to that had owned the Allen Hurst Restaurant in Wattsburg from 1954 to 1973.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Amaretta Thompson. Survivors include a niece, Guida Thompson of Conneaut Lake; two great-nephews, Thomas R. Thompson of Conneaut Lake and Eric Lynn Thompson of Louisville, KY; a great niece, Rebecca Baker of Elyria, Ohio; five great-great-nephews and their families.

Visitation will take place at Wattsburg United Methodist Church, 9904 Jamestown Road, on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service there at Noon with Rev. John Gerber officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. Private interment, Lowville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 Park Ave., Meadville, PA 16335. Arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road.
