Janet J. Hoover Bridge Bernatowicz
Janet J. Hoover Bridge Bernatowicz, 83, of Erie, died Thursday, December 20, 2007 at Twinbrook Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born January 15, 1924 in Apollo, Pa., daughter of the late John and Grace Painter Hoover.
She had resided in Erie for most of her life. Janet had been employed by the former Uniflow Mfg. Co. prior to her retirement. She had also previously been employed by the former Louis Marx Toy Co. She was a member of St. James R.C. Church. Her interests included ice fishing, golfing and bowling. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her first husband, James R. Bridge; her second husband, John Bernatowicz; one granddaughter, Colleen Gelletta; a stepson, Mark Bernatowicz; two sisters, Elizabeth Hoover and Georgetta Geer; and three brothers, John, Blaine and Herbert Hoover. Survivors include her beloved daughter, Patricia A. Zello (George) of Waterford; two sisters, Nellie Zimmerman of New Jersey, and Anna Smith of New York; one brother, Bill Hoover, of Vandergrift, Pa.; six grandchildren, Tammy Brooks (Frank), Maureen "Renee" Bero (Thomas), James "Jimmy" Gelletta (fiance' Chrissy Hipple), Deborah "Debbie" Gelletta (fiance', James Elder), Merle E. Gelletta, Jr. and John Gelletta (Tricia); four stepsons, Dickie, Brian, Tom and Butch Bernatowicz; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Bailey Funeral Home, 4396 Iroquois Ave., on Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and are invited to attend a Prayer Service there on Saturday at 11:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. at St. James R.C. Church. Interment, Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Assn., 2810 W. 21st St., Erie, PA 16506.
