John S. Avey

John S.Avey, age 87, of Millcreek Twp, residing with his daughter, in Squires, MO, died Saturday, December 8, 2007. He was born on January 28, 1920 inMarion Center, PA, son of the late William McKee and Sara Wetzel Avey. He had resided in the Erie area since 1962. John was a graduate of Marion Center High School.

John started his career as a farmer in Marion Center then worked at PennDot until his retirement in 1985. He was a life-long member of the Siebenbuerger Club and enjoyed working on one cylinder engines and reading.

He is survived by one daughter, Carol A. Carson of Squires, MO; two sons, Kenneth E. Avey of Albion and William L. Avey of Erie; one brother, Ralph E. Avey (Anna Marie) of Evening Shade, AR; seven grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Annabelle M. Avey, his second wife, Aletha Avey and a son, Edward P. Avey.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., West, 536 West 10th St. on Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and are invited to attend the Funeral Service there on Friday at 5 p.m. Interment Marion Center Cemetery.
