Anne Skoczylas Ackroyd

Anne Skoczylas Ackroyd, age 81 of Erie, died Sunday, July 22, 2007 at her residence. She was born in Erie on February 2, 1926, daughter of the late Joseph and Antonia Wnuk Skoczylas. She was a lifelong Erie resident.

Anne was formerly employed for many years at the Boston Store. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant where she served as a Deacon and an Elder, was active in the Presbyterian Women's Association and served on many committees in the church body. Anne was on the nominating committee for the formation of Penn Lakes Girl Scout Council and served as a Troop Leader. She was a 5th Ward Republican Committeewoman for several years. She was honored with a life membership in the PA PTA, was active in the North Coast Sewing Guild, a volunteer at the Erie Center on Health and Aging, a member of the Red Hat Society, and enjoyed cooking and traveling.

The widow of Robert W. Ackroyd, Anne is survived by two daughters, Nancie Kennedy and husband James of Lancaster, Ohio and Roberta Miller and husband Donald of Newark, Delaware; four grandchildren, Gregory and Jeffrey Kennedy and Michael (Ashley) and Shelly Miller; two great-grandchildren, Auburn and Braeden and two nieces, Barbara Alonge (Frank) of Erie and Judy Hayes (Rodney) of Hockley, TX. She was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Skoczylas and one sister, Claire Tissari.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., West, 536 West 10th St., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Further visitation will be held on Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service there at 11. Private interment will be held. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, 250 West 7th St., Erie, PA 16501 or Senior Center at Erie Center on Health & Aging, 406 Peach St., Erie, PA 16507.
