Doris Koch Bailey

Doris Koch Bailey, 90, died Thursday April 14,2011 in the Gregory Wing at St. Andrews Village in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. She was born March 4, 1921 in Pittston, Pennsylvania to the late Christian and Anna Stahl Koch. She graduated from Penn State University in the class of 1942 with a degree in Education.

Doris married William A. Bailey, Jr. on August 19, 1942. She taught High School Mathematics and was later a substitute teacher and tutor for many years. She worked for General Electric on one of the first computer installations.

Doris was a longtime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in North East, PA and Water of Life Lutheran Church in Newcastle, ME. She was an active member of Aglow and Eastern Star. She loved music of all types and dancing. Doris enjoyed camping, and trips with her husband in their motor home. She fulfilled a lifelong dream when she traveled to Israel and the Holy Land.

She was preceded in death by her best friend and husband of 56 years, William A. Bailey, Jr.; three brothers and three sisters. Doris is survived by her daughter, Sandra Visnosky and her husband Martin of Erie, PA and her son William Bailey and his wife Lori of Boothbay, ME Also survived by her granddaughter Christin Bailey of Boothbay, ME.

Friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Thursday April 21, 2011 at 1 P.M. in North East Cemetery, North East, PA with Rev. Charles Wertz officiating.
