Edward (Ed) Gartner

Edward (Ed) Gartner, 90, of North East, PA passed away Friday June 5, 2009 at Hamot Medical Center. He was born on September 8, 1918 in North East, PA a son of the late John and Regina Eckerdt Gartner.

Ed worked at Erie General Electric Co. for 39 years, retiring as Foreman in 1980. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in North East and the American Legion Post #105, North East. Ed served his country during WWII as a Staff Sgt. with the U.S. Army Air Corp.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Fritz Gartner. Ed is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Gartner, whom he married December 27, 1945, two sons, John Gartner of Centreville, MD and Larry Gartner and his wife Nadia of Austin, TX, two daughters, Kathleen Laakso of Stow, OH and Lorrie Knight of Seabrook, TX. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, June 12, 2009 at 11 A.M. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, North East, PA. Rev. David Kuchta will officiate. Interment will be in North East Cemetery.
