Virginia E. "Ginny" Wheeler
Virginia E."Ginny" Wheeler, age 98, of North East, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Forest View Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Erie on September 14, 1910, the daughter of the late Floyd and Edna Nece Beckwith.
As a 1928 graduate of East High School, she pursued a career as a seamstress, floral designer and pie baker; all while raising five children. Ginny attended St. Peter's Lutheran Church in North East, where she was a member of the Lutheran Church Women. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing and bird watching. She was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Sidney W. Wheeler in 1985, Milford Hardinger,and Kimber Vought and a sister and brother in law, Ruth Hindson and her husband Jack.
Ginny is survived by two sons; David Hardinger of North East, PA and Rodney Hardinger and his wife Betsy of Bartlett, TN; two stepdaughters; Lynda Warnaka and her husband Glenn of State College, PA and Susan Osborne and her husband Jim of Horseheads, NY; four stepsons; Todd Vought and wife Barbara of Kure Beach, NC, John Wheeler and wife Mary Ann, Thomas Wheeler and wife Gerda of North East, PA and Donald Wheeler and wife Donna of Erie, PA; twenty nine grandchildren; sixty one great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; two cousins and two nephews.
Friends may call at the W. Tad Bowers Funeral Home, 92 South Lake St., North East, PA on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. and Tuesday from 10 until time of services at 11 AM. Rev. Charles R. Wertz and Rev. J. Kenneth Laber will officiate. Interment will follow in North East Cemetery.
