Kathleen (Kay) Bogert

Kathleen (Kay) Bogert, age 85, of North East passed away Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Hamot Medical Center. She was born on March 12, 1923 in Leeds, England a daughter of the late Alfred and Doris Benn Richardson.

Prior to her retirement in 1985 she was the head cashier at Loblaws in North East. Kay graduated from Roundhay High School in Leeds, England, and then served in the Land Army in England during WWII. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross in North East. Kay was very active with the North East Historical Society, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Fuller Hose Co., North East, a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post #4789, North East and a social member of American Legion Post #105, North East.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband in 1983, Robert J. Bogert, whom she married June 16, 1945 in St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, Woodridge, Suffolk, England, a grandson, Timothy McGrath and a sister, Jean Harrison. She is survived by one son, Christopher M. Bogert and his wife Ronnah of Louisville, KY, one daughter, Lois Field and her husband Norm of North East and one brother, Michael Richardson of Leeds, England. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the W. Tad Bowers Funeral Home, 92 S. Lake St., North East, PA on Monday 7 to 9 and Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. and are invited to attend funeral services on Wednesday at 10 A.M. at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross, 51 W. Main St., North East. Rev. Carol Carlson will officiate. Interment will be in North East Cemetery.
