W. Tad Bowers Obituaries
William S. Keck M.D.
William S. Keck M.D., 87, passed away Monday June 11, 2007 at the Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center. He was formerly of North East and Greensburg, PA. He was born on January 10, 1920 in Kecksburg, PA a son the late Daniel Roy and Hilda Mary Newill Keck.
Dr. Keck was a 1937 graduate of Hurst High School, Mt Pleasant, PA, a graduate of St. Vincent College, Latrobe, PA and received his Medical Degree in 1943 from the University of Pittsburgh Medical School. Dr. Keck was in private practice as an Ophthalmologist in Greensburg, PA for over 50 years. He was a very active member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greensburg, PA
During WWII he served with the U.S. Army Medical Corps. He was a member and served as treasurer of the Westmoreland County Medical Society for many years. Dr. Keck enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He and his wife Glenda enjoyed traveling all over the world. Dr. Keck had a wonderful life.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Glenda Boyd Keck, whom he married March 1, 1946, three daughters, Cindy Bryan and her husband Jim of North East, PA, Sally Keck of Boston, MA and Wendy Fryfogle and her husband Jim of Spring, TX, two sisters, Maxine Ferrell and Joy Tait and her husband Allan. Also survived by four grandchildren, Amy Bryan and her husband Nathan Fry, Kimberly Kosto and her husband Martin, Ashley Fryfogle and Adam Fryfogle. Preceded in death by one sister, Sarabelle Mease Bitner.
A Memorial Service at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greensburg, PA will be announced at a later date. Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Trauger, PA.
